Elementary School & Middle School Coaches

Mission Statement

The Utah Debate Coaches Association provides all debate coaches with avenues and resources for professional development and strives to strengthen the debate community across the state. The ultimate goal of the organization is to foster debate that is educational, fair, and mindful of the needs of Utah. The Committee on Elementary and Middle School debate offers leadership and support in the following areas:  

• Harmonizing and standardizing the rules and procedures for all debate events at the Elementary and Middle School level.
• Selecting official topics for all events. 
• Centralizing communication between coaches and their communities.
• Providing educational resources for students and coaches, including hosting conferences and professional development opportunities.
• Hosting a statewide tournament.
